Compilations and Review – The Engagement (4th Edition)

The CCH Learning Center course examines many facets of a compilation or review engagement. It looks as the circumstances in which an accountant is required to comply with the provisions that apply to compilations or reviews; unconditional requirements and presumptively mandatory requirements; creating engagement letters; understanding documentation requirements; and describing the accountant’s responsibility for fraud; as well as several complexities of SSARS engagements.
Compilation and Review: Running Your First Engagement

Moving into the role of an in-charge accountant is a big step in professional growth. The responsibilities of that role may be a little vague because there are many tasks that have never been done before.
This CCH Learning Center course, Compilation and Review: Running Your First Engagement, walks through many of the responsibilities of an in-charge accountant from the perspective of someone taking on their first engagement.
A few of the topics covered are:

Independence Rules that Affect Compilation and Review Engagements (3rd edition)
3 CPE hour
This CCH Learning Center CPE course focuses on explaining the background and implications of independence rules affecting CPAs providing compilation and review services, with particular focus on the impact of Interpretation 101-3,entitled Performance of Nonattest Services.
More specifically this course will discuss the accountant’s ability to perform certain nonattest services for attest clients as well as improving the communication between the accountant and the client for whom such services are conducted.
Compilation and Review: Special Reporting Issues
2 CPE hours
This CCH Learning Center course is directed to the CPA experienced in performing compilation and review engagements. Assuming a basic working knowledge of financial statement preparation, the course provides background on advanced and specialized issues and identifying potential problems with compiled and reviewed statements.
Accountants may use topics in the course to explore further avenues of services for their practice as well as to avoid the pitfalls of performing certain procedures under the SSARSs.
Sections explore requirements for developing and compiling personal financial statements, including those integrated into personal financial plans. Prescribed forms are frequently used to generate personal financial statements, so the next section explains typical content of prescribed forms—both conforming and departing from GAAP—for these uses.
