I’ve written another batch of CPE courses for CCH.
Six one-hour modules delve into the Financial Reporting Framework for Small- and Medium-Sized Entities. That’s an entirely new reporting framework separate from GAAP that will allow for simplified reporting by smaller business entities.
Another one-hour module gives a survey of the first three documents approved by the Private Company Council that allow smaller entities to use a simplified accounting approach for a specific issue.
The appeal of the PCC exceptions is that they are a subset of GAAP. That means any smaller entity that qualifies may use one of the simplified treatments as an accounting choice.
The courses are in field testing and will then go through production. I expect they will be available soon.
