Don’t understand LinkedIn? Know you oughta’ join the party but don’t know how to get started?

Having a presence in LinkedIn should be standard for all accountants. It is approaching the level of a business card in terms of basic tools every business person should have.

Prof. David Albrecht has a great introduction on his blog: LinkedIn for Accounting and Business Students

Don’t let the title of his article lead you astray. Although the article is focused on college students, it applies perfectly to newer folks in the accounting profession. It is a great intro for experienced accountants who don’t quite understand this social media stuff.

Once you have a basic idea what’s involved, it is exquisitely simple and cheap to get started. Only takes a little effort to maintain. If you want to go crazy, you can spend a lot of time maintaining it, but that is not necessary.

Check out the article. It will be well worth your time.
